PDF / Compression

Make your PDF
easier to send.

Choose how small you want your PDF to be, compress it toward that target, then compare the result before downloading it.

Target

Original sizeSmaller file

Pick a target.
Let the compressor work.

Instead of choosing an arbitrary compression preset, this tool lets you tell it approximately how small the final PDF should be.

01

Add your PDF

Choose the document you want to make smaller.

02

Set the target

Enter a target size in MB or move the slider until it feels right.

03

Compress & compare

See the actual result and how much space was saved before downloading.

Target size

You decide how
small it should be.

The target controls let you choose a maximum size smaller than the original document. You can type the value directly or adjust it using the slider.

The target must be smaller than the original PDF. The tool uses that target to guide the compression process.

Why compress a PDF?

Smaller files are
easier to move.

Email

Reduce the size of attachments when a large PDF is difficult to send.

Uploads

Get closer to file-size limits on forms and online services.

Sharing

Make documents easier to pass around and store.

Storage

Reduce the amount of space a document needs when smaller is enough.

After compression

See what
actually changed.

The result screen shows the original size, target size, actual compressed size and the amount of space saved.

Smaller isn't
always better.

Compression is a balance between file size and document quality.

A very aggressive target can require more compression to reach the requested size. For documents where visual quality matters, choose a target that gives the compressor enough room to preserve the content you need.

Common situations

When a smaller PDF
makes sense.

Sending a report

Reduce the attachment before sending a document that doesn't need to remain at its original file size.

Uploading forms

Compress a PDF when a website or application places a limit on the maximum upload size.

Sharing documents

Create a lighter copy when the original document is unnecessarily large for the person receiving it.

FAQ

Compression,
explained.

Can I choose the final PDF size?+

You can enter a target size in MB or adjust the target using the slider.

Does the result always reach my target?+

Not necessarily. The compression engine may produce the best achievable result rather than reaching an exact target. The result screen tells you whether the target was reached.

Can I make the PDF larger?+

No. The target size must be smaller than the original PDF.

Can I see how much space I saved?+

Yes. After compression, the result shows the actual output size and the amount and percentage of space saved.

What happens to my original PDF?+

The compressed document is downloaded as a separate file with “-compressed” added to the original filename.

Too large?
Bring it down.
